To boost ambition and accelerate actions to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, will host the 2019 Climate Action Summit on 23 September 2019 to meet the climate challenge.

Austria’s Federal President, Alexander Van der Bellen, continues his “Initiative for more Climate Ambition” which he started in the run-up to COP 24 in Katowice. It enjoys the support of a growing number of European and non-European Heads of State or Government and will contribute to the UN Secretary General’s Climate Action Summit.

You can find the full text of the Initiative for more Climate Ambition here. Please support the Initiative! It is easy to do: just fill in the enclosed Declaration of Support and return it to info@globalwomennet.org by 6 Sept. We will make sure that your manifestations of support for joint, decisive and swift action to stop the global climate crisis reach the Austrian Federal President in time for the Climate Summit in New York.

Feel free to also circulate the text of the Initiative to your own networks and to use it as a tool for your own climate advocacy! Let us – the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition together with all our partners – make a difference on climate action.
