Snapshot of first page of policy brief

“Over the last three decades, the value of gender mainstreaming in policy, planning, and implementation has been increasingly recognized as a key strategy for accelerating progress towards gender equality. In Kenya, since the mid-2000s, government, civil society, international donors, and gender champions have collaborated to mainstream gender in the energy sector. A key milestone in this process was the 2019 launch of Kenya’s ‘Gender Policy in Energy’.”

This policy brief by Practical Action “summarizes some of the key steps along the way and synthesizes some useful lessons for other countries interested in the ‘how’ of gender mainstreaming in energy policy.”
